Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: STEREO A
Event Time: 2025-09-06T20:41Z ( STEREO A: IMPACT )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
STEREO A: IMPACT
STEREO A: PLASTIC
Activity ID: 2025-09-06T20:41:00-IPS-001 (version 3)
Quality of ICME Signature: 2 (clear signatures)
Note: Characterized as an initial jump in Btotal from 5.0nT to 11.4nT, reaching a peak Btotal of 16.6nT at 2025-09-06T22:45Z, with Bz sustained northward. Density suddenly increased from a sustained value of about 10 cc to 40 cc at the time of arrival, reaching a peak density of about 50 cc during the arrival, followed by a drop in density to about 3 cc at 2025-09-07T15:00Z. Only a very slight increase in solar wind speed and temperature was observed at the start of the arrival, with the speed rising from about 325 km/s to about 375 km/s. Towards the end of the arrival signature, at about 2025-09-07T09:00Z, both speed and temperature begin to show a more notable increasing trend, followed closely by the aforementioned decrease in density at 2025-09-07T15:00Z. Likely the anticipated arrival of CME 2025-09-04T20:30Z, which had been predicted to give a glancing blow to STEREO A at 2025-09-07T07:00Z (+/-7 hours). This CME was also observed at L1 by ACE at 2025-09-06T13:51Z.
